Inside the box is the MateBook 13, 65W Huawei SuperCharge charger, USB-C to USB-C cable, and paper documents.

The SuperCharge plug and USB-C cable is in a small form factor compared to the competition and it supports fast charging.

The MateBook 13's has a premium build with metal frame that has been diamond cut. This results in a visually beautiful and stunning design that is comparable with Apple's current generation of MacBooks.

Upon closer inspection the metal frame may look thin but is incredibly sturdy with very little flex on the main body and on the monitor side. The backlit keyboard keys and the glass track pad are beautiful as well but after using them for a week, we could feel that the tactile feedback of the keys and the glass track pad isn't quite up there with the MacBook's. It is however better than most Windows Laptops.

The large 3:2 13-inch display ultra-slim 4.4 mm bezel that gives users a whopping 88 percent of screen-to-body ratio for a larger screen real estate and more immersive viewing experience.

Bright near bezel-less screen!

It also has a resolution of 2160 x 1440 which makes it perfect for productivity that taller aspect ratio displays offer over wider aspect ratio displays. It is rated to get as bright as 300 nits which is more than bright enough for most situations.

The display also has an anti-fingerprint resistance as well. There is no mention of Gorilla Glass protection though.

Anyway, the result? The laptop measures at 211 x 28 x 14.9 mm with a weight of 1.3kg. The frame just measures at 14.9 mm. It is that slim.

On top is a clean surface with an embossed Huawei branding that changes color depending on how the light hits it.

At the bottom are 4 rubber feet to prevent the plate from hitting the surface and to add friction so that the laptop won't move. You will also find screws, vents and regulatory information.

On the left side is the USB-C port with no power-in feature. At right are the 3.5mm headphone jack and the USB-C port with power-in.

On the top right side of the keyboard is the two-in-one power button and fingerprint scanner. Once your fingerprint is registered, booting time from turned off to logged-in Windows 10 desktop is under 10 seconds. It is amazing!

The keyboard has the popular chiclet keys have a long travel with just amount of resistance and feedback for people who like their keys click-y with a slight stickiness.

The track pad on the other hand has a glass panel that uses Windows precision drivers that is both responsive and accurate out of the box.

Other features

It connects wirelessly via WiFi 802.11 b/g/n/ac and Bluetooth 5.0 while the built in stereo speakers support Dolby Atmos that produce loud and powerful sound.

Two of the unique features of the MateBook 13 is the SuperCharge and Huawei Share OneHop File Transfer tech.

The 65W can provide up to 2.5 hours of power from 15 minutes of charge. In total, the laptop can last for around 8 hours on a single charge.

Charging speed is a bit slower, but it also works with the new Huawei 12000 40W SuperCharge power bank as well.

The Huawei Share OneHop File Transfer tech is amazing. It allows Huawei smartphone users to quickly transfer files to the MateBook seamlessly.

It uses WiFi, Bluetooth, and NFC altogether for super fast file transfers and more.

Quick thoughts

The Huawei MateBook 13 is a beautifully designed notebook that is solid but lightweight that has a good power to size ratio.

The 8th Gen Intel Core Processors along with the Nvidia GeForce MX150 make this laptop a capable daily driver for non-graphic intensive workloads (like 3D and Video rendering).

It even comes with Huawei's signature Super Charging technology that is sadly not yet standard from other manufacturers.

It is a great option for people who are looking for a capable and portable laptop while looking sleek and sexy.

The MateBook 13 starts at PHP 55,990 for the Intel Core i5, 256GB model while the i7 512GB model starts at PHP 69,990. It comes in only space gray color.

For the first two months, the i5 version will come with a FREE mouse and bag bundle. On the other hand, the i7 edition will come with a FREE mouse, bag, dock (USB, HDMI, Type-C) bundle.
