FREE rides and terminal fees for students!

Starting Monday, July 1, 2019, students may enjoy the free rides at Light Rail Transit (LRT) Line 2 from 4:30AM to 6:00AM and 3:00PM to 4:30PM.

However, there will be no free rides for LRT Line 1 operated by Light Rail Manila Corporation.

Students who rides Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT-3) may also avail for the free ride from 5:00AM to 6:30AM and 3:00PM to 4:30PM.

Philippine National Railways (PNR) will open the free rides for students from 5:00AM to 6:00AM and 3:00PM to 4:00PM.

Moreover, students will will also get the "anti-cut-off pass". It means that students are automatically part of the train ride and will not be offloaded once it's full.

The free rides will be valid weekdays except holidays.

Meanwhile, DOTr revealed that all terminal fees for 40 Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines-operated airports as well as seaports owned and operated by the Philippine Ports Authority will also be waived for students.

The LRT2 is a 13.8-kilometer train system from Recto Station in Manila to Santolan Station in Pasig City while the MRT3 spans 16.9 kilometers, with 13 stations from North Avenue in Quezon City to Taft Avenue in Pasay City.

Its implementation starts on July 16.

The free rides may be availed by students up to college level and those who are taking vocational and technical courses. Post-graduate students are not eligible.

To avail the free rides and terminal fees, the students will only have to show their school IDs. Rappler reported that eventually, they will be asked to register for the ID issued by DOTr.
