Aside from its stunning design, massive 256GB storage, and VOOC 3.0 tech, the other key highlight of the Reno is its cameras.

OPPO Reno camera interface |
OPPO Reno is equipped with an AI-assisted 48MP f/1.7 Sony IMX586 primary camera with PDAF focus and a secondary 5MP f/2.4 depth camera. It also has a hidden LED flash found at the back of its shark fin-like pop-up camera for the super dim conditions.
|
Powerful dual-cam |
OPPO also added, its Dazzle Color mode and handheld Night mode to improve your daylight and night shots, respectively.
Sadly, it doesn't have a 3rd ultra-wide lens.
But since its primary camera is the 48MP f/1.7 Sony IMX586 sensor and its processor is the Snapdragon 710 SoC with Spectra 250 ISP, we can expect it to deliver close to flagship shots.

Pop-up selfie cam |
What about selfies? In front, the front part of its pop-up camera houses the 16MP f/2.0 selfie camera with auto HDR and portrait mode.
Basically, the Reno has good camera specs. Without further ado, here are our first few shots!

Quick thoughts
As expected, the standard version of the OPPO Reno is an excellent shooter even if it doesn't have a flagship ISP.
Thanks to its 48MP primary camera and the secondary 5MP depth camera, Reno got images with good amount of details and colors in nearly every lighting condition. It is impressive for a mid-range phone.
Daylight shots are crisp and natural looking. The HDR works well in bringing out details in some against the light shots. Dynamic range could be better, but at least it is natural looking without visible artifacts and over-sharpening.
You could use the Dazzle Color mode to enhance dynamic range and make the colors more vivid. It works 7 out of 10 times.
Macro shots needs a bit of improvement though, it struggled taking super close-up images.
Low light performance is good. But, it will be even better when you use its handheld Night mode feature. It is one of the better Night modes that will enhance your low light images without making your shots look too unnatural.
The selfie cam is very impressive despite not being a 32MP shooter. It has good HDR for against the light shots and plenty of details. It'll struggle a little in low light, but you can always use the softlight selfie flash to let you take decent selfies in the dark.
The only thing that I bothers me a little is its lack of an ultra-wide lens. But so far, we are quite impressed with its back and front cameras.
