Shopee PH issues official statement for BLACKPINK fiasco

Shopee Philippines is the official sponsor of the BLACKPINK's Fan Meet in the Philippines. They held an online event wherein the top spenders are promised tickets to meet the Korean pop group. 

Many fans received notifications that they won a ticket due to being one of the top spenders. However, a new notification stated that the previous notifications were wrongfully sent out and therefore forfeited the supposed winner's spot. BLACKPINK fans who were hoping to win were quick to point out that mechanics had been changed for the last leg of the event.

Shopee PH's official statement included an apology to both the app users and BLACKPINK fans due to the problems that arose involving their Shopee x BLACKPINK event. The company also said that the event "fell short of the high standards that Shopee users and BLACKPINK fans" expected.

The company also assured its community that feedback were heard loud and clear. Shopee also touched on the subject of its "error" in terms of providing the rightful winners their prizes.

The statement was concluded with a promise of communication with affected users and fans. The company also promised that it is doing everything to make sure that this incident will not happen again in the future.
