Back of the case |
JR-T04S' case and earbuds are made out of plastic, but it feels a bit more solid even against the pricier Huawei FreeBuds Lite. Just don't expect its build to feel better than the Galaxy Buds and Xiaomi Mi True Wireless Earphones, but for the price, this is considered as good.

Top view of the case when opened with visible LED indicator |
My case and earbuds actually survived a few hard drops already. The biggest damage I got is a tiny dent on the right earpiece. For the case, it has hardly noticeable hairline scratches.
The case is shaped like a fat capture. It is smaller and slimmer than the case of FreeBuds Lite and Rock Space EB70. It is basically as big as the Mi True Wireless Earphones.

Micro USB charging port below |
Below the case, you'll see the micro USB charging port and the LED light indicator.
I also like that the case doesn't have a button for pairing. Why? You cannot pair it with other devices if you do not have the case with you.

Metallic pins |
Going to the earbuds, both the left and right earpiece have a pairing button with an LED indicator. Its design reminds me of the Apple Airpods with the long body for the microphones.
It has a metallic mesh filter to prevent dirt and earwax from getting in.
Sadly, there is no mention of water and dust resistance. I tried it for workouts and still works though. But still, we won't recommend it for long hours of workout where your sweat might enter the buds.
There are no left/right marks as well. But based on its shape, locating the left or right earpiece is easy.
Below the long body of the buds, you'll find a 2-pin charging connector.
It measures at 46.4 x 18.5 x 19.5 mm and weighs 65 grams. Not bad!
Comfort/Isolation

Decent comfort |
The buds have a "one-size-fits-all" type of earbuds design. Overall, it is just fine. It is pretty easy to wear.
Personally, I would have liked it better if it is a bit smaller. I also hope that there is an in-ear version of these buds.
But if you hit the right spot, it is quite comfortable to wear even for long number hours. I just wished that it is a little bit more secure in the ears.
Note: One-size-fits-all might not fit well on people who have small ears.
Despite having an earbuds type of design, it has some sort of noise isolation. Obviously, it won't block outside noise as good in-ear monitors. But at least, it can keep you aware of your surroundings.
Battery
JOYROOM JR-T04S has 45mAh LiPol batteries per piece. The case has 500mAh more.True to its promise, it can last up to 3 hours per charge at around 50 to 70 percent volume. Plus, it has a charging case that can charge the earpieces for more than 5 times.
The charging time per earbuds is 2 hours from 0 to 100 percent. The case can be charged using a 5V/1A charger for 3.5 hours from 0 to 100 percent.
I'm good with the charging speed per earbuds, but I wished that its case has a faster-charging speed.
Also, do not lose your charging case. You cannot charge the earbuds without it.
There's an alert if the battery is low and you need to charge as well.
Features
JOYROOM JR-T04S is very easy to use and pair to your device. All you need to do is remove it from the case and connect to JR-T04S via Bluetooth. If you do not have your charging case, you can manually pair it to your devices via Bluetooth by holding the single button on your earbuds.
By the way, it also works even if you won't use the other piece. Either piece can work as your main buds. Just wait for the white and orange LED lights to blink.
Once paired with your phone or laptop, connecting it back is effortless. All you need to do is remove it from your case and it will automatically connect to your paired devices.
JR-T04S is compatible with PC, tablets, phones, and other music players with Bluetooth connectivity.
The best part, it has the new Bluetooth 5.0 standard with good latency and stability. Audio lag rarely happens even I'm a bit far from my source. If you are under 10 feet from the source, it passes through walls as well. It is that stable.
The functions of its single-button includes: double click L/R to use voice assistants like Siri and Google, long-press L/R to refuse calls, short press L/R to answer or hang up calls, short press L/R to play and pause music, long-press L for the previous song, and long-press R for the next song.
Sadly, it doesn't have sensors for stopping audio when you remove an earpiece. There is no control for volume as well.

Great audio quality for the price |
Once you get the correct seal, JOYROOM JR-T04S can give you an amazing audio experience for the price. To my ears, it is on par with several entry-level HiFi wired earbuds.
Yes, you read that part right. It sounds as good as some budget WIRED earbuds. As we all know, wired earphones often sound better than their wireless counterparts as a wired connection has less noise than wireless audio transmission.
That's the advantage of having Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity. and I'm impressed This is also the most affordable wireless earphones with Bluetooth 5.0 in my possession as well.
Once you get the correct seal, JOYROOM JR-T04S can give you an amazing audio experience for the price!
The other factor why it sounds good is its use of a large 13mm dynamic driver. It is a driver/speaker that is bigger than most 10mm drivers found on in-ear monitors.
It resulted in a warm sound signature with a good bass response. I'm actually surprised that its bass is pretty tight and fast with good punch and depth.
Other similarly priced wireless earphones may have a bigger bass response, but they are not as clean and clean as this. It is not overpowering as well.
Its mids is quite clear too. It is nice for both male and female vocals with a good voice to instrument layering. Instrumental separation is excellent for an earbuds with a price this low.
I also noticed its highs have respectable sparkle with minimal peaks. Hissing is hardly noticeable too. That's rare for a budget device.
Since it has an open type of design, the soundstage is concert-like wide.
It can make even some instrument heavy tracks shine.
Even on max loudness, distortion is minimal.
Overall, it is one of the best sounding buds for its price. Yes, you can compare it even against some wired earphones.
I'm also confident that it can go toe to toe in terms of audio quality even against some more expensive TWS earbuds.
My issue is with its microphone for calls. It is just okay. But not excellent. That's life, you can't have it all, especially on a budget phone. I can forgive JOYROOM for that.
Pros - Lightweight design, close to lag-free connectivity, fast reconnection speed, stellar audio quality for the price, the unreal price tag
Cons - No IP rating for water resistance, slow case charging, no sensors for stopping audio when you remove an earpiece
