Samsung Galaxy A80 has a premium-looking glass and metal body. It is hefty and makes you feel that you are holding a premium yet sturdy device. The back is made out of two panels. The top smaller panel moves up so that the triple cameras can rotate to face forward.

The Huawei Nova 5T has a build that consists of glass material plus a metal frame that gives it a premium feel. For the price, it is impressive.



In the looks department, they both look great. The Galaxy A80 gets some points due to its unique flipping camera system. The front of the Galaxy A80 also looks cleaner with no punch hole or notch though.

Display - The Samsung Galaxy A80 has a 6.7-inch 2.5D curved Super AMOLED screen w/ FHD+ 2400 x 1080 resolution at 393 ppi.

Huawei Nova 5T has a 6.26-inch 2.5D curved screen with 2340 x 1080 FHD+ resolution at 412 ppi.

Galaxy A80 has a taller Super AMOLED screen. The Nova 5T has a higher pixel density so the images come out a bit more shaper. Both have FHD+ resolution.

But, AMOLED is AMOLED. Expect the Galaxy A80 to render colors better than the IPS of Nova 5T.

Huawei Nova 5T has a 2.6GHz Kirin 980 octa-core processor with Dual NPU, Mali-G60 MP10 GPU with GPU Turbo, 8GB LPDDR4X RAM, 128GB UFS 2.1 storage, and a 3,750mAh with 22.5W SuperCharge.

It is an absolute mismatch!

Samsung Galaxy A80 is a phone with flagship price, but with mid-range internals. On the other hand, Huawei Nova 5T is phone with mid-range price tag, but with flagship-worthy internals.

The only advantage of Galaxy A80 is its slightly faster 25W charging versus Nova 5T's 22.5W SuperCharge.

Both also come with speedy 4G LTE connectivity and dual-band WiFi. But Nova 5T has up to 4G LTE Cat 21.

Cameras - The Samsung Galaxy A80 is equipped with a triple camera setup consisting of a 48MP f/2.0 + 8MP f/2.2 ultra wide-angle lens + 3D depth sensor w/ AF and LED flash. It also serves as selfie cameras it also has a triple camera setup for that.

Huawei Nova 5T has a quad-camera setup with a combo of 48MP f/1.8 Sony IMX586 with PDAF, CAF + 16MP f/2.2 ultra wide-angle sensor + 2MP f/2.4 4cm macro + 2MP f/2.4 depth with LED flash. It also has 32MP f/2.0 selfie camera with AI HDR.

In terms of main camera specs, Huawei Nova 5T takes the lead with a more complete quad-camera system. The inclusion of a dedicated macro lens is a big plus.

For selfies, we will give it to the Samsung Galaxy A80. Having the same sensors as your main cameras should allow you to take better selfies than most.

Other features - Samsung Galaxy A80 has an In-Display fingerprint sensor, FM Radio, USB-C, and Dolby Atmos. The Huawei Nova 5T has OTG, NFC, dual-band GPS, dual-band GALILEO, dual-band QZZS, side-mounted fingerprint sensor, dual-mic, and USB-C port.

Our thoughts 

Based on their specs, Huawei Nova 5T crushes the Samsung Galaxy A80 in the speed and camera department despite being at almost half the price.

But, Samsung Galaxy A80 could still appeal to those who want a larger and more vibrant display.
