For those of you who haven't heard of Skyworth, the company was founded in 1988 and is three major industries: Multimedia, Intelligent Appliances, and Intelligent System Technologies. In fact, they are the first company to mass-produce OLED and AI TV's to make innovations more accessible to the masses.

They've become big enough to be the Official Television Partner of the 30th SEA Games that will be held in Manila this year.

Today we look at their UB7500 65-inch 4K Infinity Display borderless design TV that is on a huge discount until December 31, 2019.

Unboxing/Accessories

Inside are the box is the TV, stand, remote control, power cable, warranty and manual. Unlike other brands, the Skyworth TV we received is bundled with triple-A batteries for the remote control.

Build Quality/Design

Out of the box, the 65UB7500 is a beautifully designed TV. The 65-inch panel is large and immersive but because of the borderless design, the whole TV takes up the size of a smaller 55 inch TV. When compared side by side with another 65-inch TV, the 65UB7500 takes a smaller amount of space but still maintaining a large display.

Below the panel is the brushed finished silver trim at the bottom that serves as the base is made of polycarbonate while the silver-colored feet (stand) are made of metal. The tint of silver is identical and you will only notice the difference in the material when you touch it.

The panel is wrapped with a combination of polycarbonate and metal-like material that is painted in a dark color which makes the TV look even slimmer.

Upon closer inspection of the backside, the power-in port is located at one side of the TV while on the other side are the ports that include: 1 USB Type-A 2.0, 1 USB Type-A 3.0, 3 HDMI Ports, Coaxial Cable-In, Ethernet Port, AV-In, and Digital-Out.
Two more USB ports and a third HDMI port

At the bottom middle of the TV is the sticker that details the TV's internals and the regulatory information.

In the middle of the silver trim is the Skyworth branding. Below it is the LED power light and the IR receiver. Behind the silver trim are the speaker grills and ventilation holes. Hidden inside are the two 10W downward-firing speakers.

Overall, the build quality and design of the TV is nearly unbeatable when compared to TVs priced higher than its SRP and current sale price.

The Included remote control is unique in that it has a microphone, dedicated buttons for Netflix, YouTube, Google Play, Media Player and Google Assistant. This makes navigating through the TV so much easier as these are our most used features aside from the standard TV features. We hope the competition copies this and we hope that next time Skyworth would add a couple of customizable buttons that allow you to assign your chosen app to launch as soon as you press the customizable button.

Performance

Large and immersive display with thin bezels

Inside the Skyworth 65UB7500 is a quad-core processor with 2.5GB RAM and 16GB of internal storage. It is running on the latest Android TV 9.0 Pie and connects wirelessly through WiFi and Bluetooth 5.0.

Viewing high-resolution content on the 65-inch 4K Panel with 67.78 ppi is a treat! When using the out-of-the-box calibration, the panel produces vibrant color, strong contrast and sharp details. The TV was 3 meters away from the couch and yet when watching high-quality high-resolution content, we were blown away by the sharpness of the footage.

Color accuracy is great but not the best in class out of the box. Being an LED panel, the blacks are as deep as it can get which allows for decent contrast. It can be improved by customizing the tones and brightness to the user's liking. The built-in dynamic contrast, true color restoration, precision definition, and skin color adjustment all help with improving picture quality.

The Maximum brightness is bright enough to make the display visible even when the sun from a nearby window hits the panel. The TV supports HDR and automatically detects if the content supports it. The images are noticeably better than non-HDR content.

Running the show is Android TV 9.0 Pie. Booting up the TV is noticeably faster than the other Android TV's we've tried.

Upon first boot up and set-up, you are asked if you have an Android smartphone and Google account. You can connect both without the need for Bluetooth or WiFi. Once connected, the TV will set-up with the Google Account you chose on your smartphone. This makes setting up the TV so much easier. You can then further customize the UI, Apps, and Settings afterward. To finalize this, you may need to connect the TV to the internet via WiFi or via the Ethernet port. The last step is the TV will automatically detect analog and digital channels with or without a connection to an exterior Antenna or a Cable coaxial cable.

If you have the Google Home app, YouTube app, Netflix app, and Spotify app on your phone, you can link the 65UB7500 to your other devices registered on your chosen app. This allows you to connect and control the TV with your chosen app.

The TV supports a 'Fast Boot' mode that puts the TV in a low-power state that instead of completely turning off the TV that allows you to instantly.

Aside from watching the usual local channels, we primarily used the TV to stream YouTube, Netflix, and Spotify. Netflix and YouTube automatically detect that the TV is 4K and supports HDR. If the content being played supports Dolby Surround sound, and HDR, the TV automatically adjusts the settings to give the best possible experience.

The result is stunning picture quality and enhanced stereo experience. Not even the best software can come close to a true hardware-based 7.1 or 5.1 surround sound experience but even so, the Stereo experience of the TV is more than good enough especially if you watch the TV from 2 to 3 meters away.

What elevates the experience and what separates the 65UB7500 from other TVs is the borderless design. The lack of thick bezels and materials around the Panel removes the distractions when you are watching which deepens your immersion to what you are watching. This is the best feature of the Skyworth's 65UB7500.

You can plug an external storage device to any of the two USB ports and the TV will be able to detect it.

The on-board Media Player allows you to navigate through the external storage folders and allows you to playback your content. Our only gripe with the onboard Media Playback software is that it can not connect or detect Network-attached storage.

There is a workaround wherein you install VLC from the Google Play store. The VLC app can detect Network Attached storage and playback the media on the network.

Pros - Large Immersive Borderless Display, Sturdy and Beautiful Design, 65-inch display in a 55-inch form factor
Cons - Lack of native NAS Media playback support

Verdict

The Skyworth 65UB7500 is beautifully designed with high-quality materials while maintaining a small profile because of its borderless 65-inch panel.

The 4K resolution, the vibrant color, deep blacks, and decent contrast allows for stunning picture quality. The dual 10W down-firing speakers are able to deliver audio with decent separation and a high maximum volume.

Overall, We highly recommend the Skyworth 65UB7500 because it has very few shortcomings and because offers outstanding value and it is on sale until the end of the year.
