Both have premium metal and glass design
Both have premium metal and glass design

Build/Design Samsung Galaxy Note10+ also has a thinner metal frame and curved glass. It feels both luxurious and premium.

There are physical volume and power button at the left side of the device, USB-C port, speakers, antenna lines, S Pen at the bottom, and the dual SIM card tray, microphone at the top. No headphone jack though.

Vivo NEX 3 has a metal and glass build as well. It has curved glass panels for both the front and backside of the device. The waterfall display curved down to the side of the phone which means no hardware buttons.

These are replaced by pressure-sensitive sensors. Up top, it has the antenna lines, microphones, IR blaster, pop-up camera mechanism, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. At the bottom, there are antenna lines, speakers, microphones, USB-C ports, and the dual nano-SIM slots.

This category is pretty close. Both devices offer good looking and premium-feeling designs. Vivo NEX 3 takes a bit of a lead for us since there are new features such as the waterfall display with no hardware buttons as well as retaining some traditional features such as the 3.5mm headphone jack.

There is a pop-up mechanism as well allowing for a full-screen experience.

Display - The Galaxy Note10+ has a 6.8-inch QHD+ 3040 x 1440 3D curved Gorilla Glass 6 protected Dynamic AMOLED screen. It has 495 ppi pixel density as well. As expected with an AMOLED screen, it has vibrant and punchy colors with deep blacks. Galaxy Note10+ has HDR10+.

Vivo NEX 3 has a slightly bigger 6.89-inch Waterfall POLED screen at FHD+ 2256 x 1080 resolution with 363 ppi pixel density. For a flagship, it is one of the better screens with good colors and brightness. NEX 3 had HDR10.

Visually, Vivo NEX 3 has the lead here with its new Waterfall POLED screen as it offers a near bezel-less, fullscreen experience.

Picture quality-wise, Samsung Galaxy Note10+ gets points for QHD+ resolution.

Specs - The Samsung Galaxy Note10+ has a 2.7GHz Exynos 9825 octa-core processor with NPU, Mali-G76 MP12 GPU, 12GB of RAM, up to 512GB UFS 3.0 expandable storage, and a 4,300mAh with 45W fast charging, 20W wireless charging, and reverse wireless charging.

The Vivo NEX 3 has a 2.96GHz Snapdragon 855 Plus AIE octa-core processor, Adreno 640 GPU, 8GB LPDDR4X RAM. 128GB UFS 3.0 storage, and a 4,500mAh battery with 44W Super FlashCharge technology.

On paper, the NEX 3 has a faster CPU, GPU, and a bigger battery with a 44W fast charging solution.

Galaxy Note10+ takes the lead in RAM and storage sizes as well as more charging solutions with 45W fast charging and 20W wireless charging.

Our thoughts

Solely relying on the spec sheet, the Vivo NEX 3 is knocking on Samsung Galaxy Note10+ door.

It has flagship performance, features, and design at a significantly lower price. However, you can still see where the additional money goes with the Note10+ with some quality-of-life improving features.

The better display, HDR10+, Samsung DEX, S Pen, IP68 certification, numerous charging solutions, as well as camera technology warrants that.

For us, both great choices in terms of flagship devices.

But of course, a real-life test is needed to determine the real winner.
