Xiaomi files for Motorola Razr-like foldable phone patent!

Xiaomi filed for a foldable phone that is designed similarly to the recently launched Motorola Razr.

A clamshell-style Xiaomi phone?

There are similarities with the Motorola Razr but there are a lot of differences too. Filed in August 2018, the Xiaomi patent shows a device that opens from a folded square state. When opened, it reveals a screen with a tall aspect ratio and an upper bezel that houses a dual selfie camera.

However, a patent does not automatically mean that a device is in the works. But, it is great to know that Xiaomi is looking into creating a clamshell-style smartphone. Motorola Razr's comeback with the clamshell design opens more opportunities for a folding device.

This could mean that there will be a lot of alternatives to the tablet-smartphone hybrid that Samsung and Huawei came out with the Galaxy Fold and Mate X respectively. No matter the case, the consumers win with all the possible options to be available in the future.

There is no further information available yet. We will be updating you as soon as we hear more about this Xiaomi device.
