Instagram hides likes in PH, worldwide
It is a trial that the Facebook-owned company started last week in other parts of the world.
If your account is included in the test, you won't see the total number of likes and views posted on the feed unless it is your own post.
Starting today, we're expanding our test of private like counts globally. If you’re in the test, you’ll no longer see the total number of likes and views on photos and videos posted to Feed unless they’re your own.
Instagram has started removing the likes on the posts to remove the "pressure" of how many likes a post will receive.
It seems like a good move to "discourage" Instagram users from making posts designed only to garner likes.
Though this seems like a good move to de-incentivize Instagram users from making posts designed only to garner likes,
This move will surely affect Instagram users who rely on likes as an important metric to its partners and advertisers. It could pose a challenge for social media influencers who makes a living online.
A Facebook spokesperson told CNN Business that they understand that the number of likes is an important metric and they are thinking of ways for creators to communicate value to their partners.
For now, we are still not sure if this is a permanent move from Instagram.
