Ramon "RJ" Jacinto has taken a bigger role in the government after President Rodrigo Duterte appointed him as the new Department of Information and Technology Undersecretary for Operations.

RJ Jacinto replaces Rio as DICT Usec for operations

He replaced Eliseo Rio Jr., who led major initiatives in the DICT, including the third telco race.

The Palace confirms that Mr. Ramon P. Jacinto has been appointed Undersecretary of the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), co-terminous with the appointing authority on 22 May 2022, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said last Friday. 

Jacinto, known as a musician, helped Duterte won the presidency in 2016. He was then named President adviser in July 2016, only months after Duterte won in the national election.

Rio in January offered his resignation after experiencing internal conflicts with other new appointees of DICT Chief Gringo Honasan 2nd. 

We are confident that Usec. Jacinto will serve DICT with dedication and integrity and will contribute to achieving the Department’s mandate under the current administration, Roque said.
