As expected, Samsung and Huawei are the top players and it is a tightly contested match. The data showed that Samsung has shipped 8.3 million 5G smartphones or 34.4 percent of the global market share for the number 1 spot. Right next to Samsung is Huawei which shipped 8 million units globally or 33.2 percent of the market share.

Just this year, Samsung has already released the Galaxy S20 5G trio along with several mid-rangers with 5G like the Galaxy A51 and A71. On the other hand, Huawei also launched the P40 5G trio as well as the Mate Xs, Nova 7 phones with 5G, and more.

At number 3 is Vivo that shipped 2.9 million units or 12 percent of the market share. Xiaomi is at number 4 with 2.5 million units shipped or 10.4 percent of the market share. At number 5 is OPPO with 1.2 million units or 5 percent of the market share.

The rest of the global market only shipped 1.2 million units worldwide during the same period.

We can expect this market to grow further in the coming months as most major telco players globally are ramping up the deployment of 5G.

In the Philippines, Globe and Smart are expected to launch 5G mobile services later this year.
