Meet the Dynabook Portege X30L-G

The Portege X30L-G that we have has a 13.3-inch 1920 x 1080 FHD display with a non-reflective finish. It is bright enough to be used indoors both in warm and cooler lighting. Colors are good enough but far from vibrant OLED screens. Overall, the screen is great for daily tasks and media consumption. No touchscreen capabilities though.

In terms of build, the ultra-light Dynabook Portege X30L-G is so light (870 grams) I cannot determine if it made out of metal or plastic. It can be easily carried singlehandedly when you need to move around. It passed MIL-STD 810G tests though to that means it is very durable as well. It also has two downward-firing speakers.
The keyboard
The keyboard

The keyboard is pretty good for typing. Key travel is pretty good for a chiclet-style keyboard. Deck flex is noticeable though. It has backlighting which is a plus for working in darker areas. However, the keyboard can feel a bit cramped especially for me who has a bigger hand. I suffer from fat-finger syndrome which led to accidental key presses for me.

The trackpad has good size and a matte finish. It is a bit of a fingerprint magnet though. It also has a fingerprint sensor on it which is works quickly with Windows Hello.

For performance, it has a 2.3GHz Intel Core i7-10510U CPU, Intel UHD Graphics, 8GB of RAM, and a 500GB SSD. For a work laptop, this is a great specs sheet. The CPU and RAM are powerful enough to handle multitasking seamlessly.

Multiple Chrome tabs can be opened at the same time with little to no struggle. The lack of a discrete laptop can be a problem for graphics extensive tasks like Photoshop and video editing though.

For ports, on the left side, it has the charging port, USB-C port, HDMI, 3.5mm audio jack, and a microSD slot. The right side houses 2x USB 3.0 Type-A ports, Ethernet port, and a security lock slot. It also has dual-band WiFi, Bluetooth, and a 720p webcam, and a built-in microphone.

Our thoughts

You only get the charger and the laptop of the box
You only get the charger and the laptop of the box

The Dynabook Portege X30L-G is looking to be a reliable choice if you are looking for a solid business-class laptop. It has a design-style that screams functional and professional while maintaining an updated specs sheet inside.

Our only concern? Dynabook Portege X30L-G's international pricing is quite expensive for the specs versus its competitors. The laptop starts at USD 2,500 (around PHP 121K) in other parts of the world.

Other than that, it could be a great slim and lightweight workhorse to accompany you in your daily life.
