Meanwhile, Samsung shipped a whopping 80.2 million units or 23.0 percent of the market share to retake the number 1 position from Huawei. Huawei dropped to number 2 with 51.7 million units shipped which is equivalent to 14.9 percent of the market share.

Canalys shared that Huawei lost around 15.1 million units worldwide and its shipments fell by 25 percent in Europe. This is probably due to the heightened US restrictions that prevent both Google and Huawei to pre-install Google Services to Huawei devices.

At number 5 is vivo with 31.8 million units shipped to capture 9.1 percent of the market share. vivo is closely followed by OPPO.

The report was also quoted saying that realme is also becoming a serious contender that is growing beyond e-commerce and it threatens to undercut Xiaomi as it transforms its go-to-market strategy. realme is currently at the number 7 spot.

Lenovo is at number 8 while Transsion is at number 9. Transsion owns brands like Tecno, itel, and Infinix.
