Qualcomm releases 6nm Snapdragon 778G 5G with Triple 14-bit ISP

Qualcomm has just launched the Snapdragon 778G 55G processor as one of the company's new chips to power upper mid-range phones.

Qualcomm's newest 6nm mid-range chip!

Snapdragon 778G 5G is a 6 nm-based chip featuring the Kryo 670 core based on Cortex-A78. Qualcomm said that it can give an enhanced overall CPU performance by up to 40 percent. The chip is paired with the Adreno 642L GPU that is designed to deliver up to 40 percent faster performance versus the previous generation with enhanced power efficiency.

It also has a 6th generation Qualcomm AI Engine with Qualcomm Hexagon 770 Processor with 12 TOPS performance and up to 2x improvement versus the previous generation. The company even boasts that it has up to 1,000x improvement for the hands-off time in certain use-cases and it enhances every video call and phone call with its noise suppression capabilities and provides AI-based camera experiences.

For cameras, it has a Triple 14-bit ISP, Qualcomm Spectra 570L image signal processor, which supports up to 192MP single cameras and 4K 30fps videos. It also has 10-bit HDR HEIF photo capture, Multi-frame Noise Reduction (MFNR), HEIC photo capture, AI-based auto-focus and auto-exposure, and HDR10, HDR10+, and HLG video capture.

It also up to FHD+ resolution, HDR10+, and up to 10-bit color depth for the display and  Qualcomm Aqstic WCD9385 audio.

For charging, this supports up to Qualcomm Quick Charge 4+ technology.

Its 5G supports wave and Sub-6 in both TDD and FDD frequencies, NSA and SA modes, and DSS.

The device will be available to the HONOR 50 series. Soon, it will also power upcoming Motorola, OPPO, iQOO, realme, and Xiaomi devices. It is expected to be available in the second quarter of 2021.
