American tech giant Apple earlier announced the MagSafe Battery Pack that unlocks a long-rumored feature on the iPhone 12—the Huawei-like reverse wireless charging tech.

Reverse wireless charging on iPhone 12?

The new iPhones have wireless charging, but this is the first sign that it can do reverse wireless charging.

Basically, when attached to an iPhone that's charging via Lightning, the ‌iPhone‌ can deliver power to the MagSafe Battery Pack. A sign that an iPhone can deliver power to an accessory device.

If both your iPhone and MagSafe Battery Pack need to be charged, you can charge them at the same time. Attach your MagSafe Battery Pack to your iPhone and then plug the MagSafe Battery Pack into a power adapter. Using a 20W or higher power adapter, the MagSafe Battery Pack can charge your iPhone with up to 15W of charging power.

You can also charge both if you attach your MagSafe Battery Pack to your iPhone, then plug your iPhone into a power source. You might want to charge this way if you need to connect your iPhone to another device while charging, like if you’re using wired CarPlay or transferring photos to a Mac.

If you charge your iPhone and MagSafe Battery Pack at the same time, your iPhone might charge to 80% or higher before your MagSafe Battery Pack begins charging.

Reverse wireless charging could be useful if you own other devices with wireless charging tech like AirPods with wireless charging and more.

Going back to the device, the MagSafe Battery Pack is the first to offer up to 15W of faster wireless charging while it's plugged in.

For the device itself, Apple hasn't shared much about its battery capacity. Tech publication The Verge spotted that it has 1460mAh, 7.62V, 11.13Wh.
