Watch: Redmi Note 10 Pro Review - Budget 108MP camera phone in the Philippines

Unboxing/Accessories

The Redmi Note 10 Pro came in a white box with a photo of the device printed on top. At the bottom of the box, you will find the key specs, serial numbers, and IMEI. Inside, you will find another smaller box on top containing the SIM Ejector tool, user guide, warranty card, and a FREE frosted silicone protective case.

Under that, you get the handset itself wrapped in protective plastic. You also get the USB-A to USB-C cable and the 33W fast charger. Unfortunately, no wired earphones are included in the box.

Build/Quality

Out of the box, the Redmi Note 10 Pro feels both classy and premium. It is available in three colors namely Onyx Gray, Glacier Blue, and Gradient Bronze. At the back, it has a frosted finish with a gradient effect. It has a 3D glass design that is a fingerprint magnet. It has the Redmi branding, regulatory info, and rectangular camera bump. The bump is elevated so you will feel a wobble when the device is laid flat on the table. It also has IP53 certification and Gorilla Glass 5 at the front.

It also has a punch-hole display with a pre-installed screen protector. The bezels are slim on the side and slightly thicker on the top and bottom. On top, we have the 3.5mm headphone port, speaker grill, mic, and IR blaster. At the bottom, there's another mic, speaker grill, and USB-C port. The left side houses the SIM tray while the right side houses the volume rocker and power button/fingerprint scanner.

Multimedia Experience

The Redmi Note 10 Pro has a 6.67-inch AMOLED screen with 1080p FHD+ resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, 240Hz touch sampling rate, and HDR10. The screen is one of the major upgrades Xiaomi did for this device. The top-center punch-hole is barely noticeable and the viewing angles are great as well.

Due to the 1080p AMOLED display, the picture quality is above average. The images are crisp while the colors are vibrant and accurate. It also has deep blacks with good contrast. The refresh rate is set to 60Hz by default and you have to set it manually to 120Hz if you want that smoother experience. There are also dark mode, sunlight mode, reading mode, and anti-flicker mode.

The dual mics and dual speakers are welcome additions too. We get a more balanced sound from both ends of the device. However, there's a lack of bass though. The dual speakers also solve the issue of accidentally covering the speakers when gaming.

With earphones, the sound quality is great as well. There's an option to adjust the sound quality if you have Xiaomi branded earphones as well. There's also an option to turn on Hi-Fi audio. For recording, the dual-mic helps a lot in good quality recording in quiet rooms.

Cameras

The Redmi Note 10 Pro has a quad-camera setup with the 108MP sensor as the highlight. It has a 108MP main camera + 8MP ultra-wide-angle camera + 5MP macro camera + 2MP depth sensor. For selfies, it has a 16MP sensor.

The camera interface is simple and easy to use. It has a 1-tap zoom feature, HDR, AI, Filters, and Google Lens. For camera modes, we have Pro Mode, Video mode, Photo mode, Portrait Mode, Night Mode, 108MP mode, Short Video, Panorama, Documents, Vlog mode, Slow Motion, Time-lapse, Dual video mode, Movie Effects, Long Exposure, and Clone mode. Weird enough, the Super Macro mode is hidden within the settings menu of the camera app.

For photos, in well-lit scenarios, the Redmi Note 10 Pro produced superb photos. It has great details, accurate and lively colors. The ultra-wide shots have very little softness and distortion in corners. In zoom mode, 2X zoom retains a lot of quality and detail while 10X zoom shows some distortion. The Super Macro shots retain details and color accuracy very well. Portrait mode produces images that are clear and crisp with vibrant colors. Edge detection is not perfect but works well enough for the price.

Indoor shots are still good but it is highly recommended to take shots in well-lit areas. At night, the photos are softer but still good enough. Using Night Mode, the photos came out with more details but we're a lot more grainy. It also has a Night Mode Ultra-wide and 2x zooms which is overall decent too.

For selfie shots, the 16MP produced sharp images with great color accuracy. It also has great edge detection with good bokeh. With beauty mode, you can adjust different settings according to your taste. At night, using Night Mode for selfies is highly recommended for higher-quality images.

For videos, it can record 4K videos at 30 fps, 1080p at 60 fps, and 1080p 30 fps with stabilization. Time-lapse is also available at 4K resolution. Slow-motion mode is only maxed out at 120FPS. Vlog Mode adds filters for social media posts. Dual video is a great feature if you want to record with the selfie and main cameras at the same time.

Performance

The Redmi Note 10 Pro is sporting a 2.3GHz 8nm Snapdragon 732G octa-core processor with Adreno 618 GPU. It also has up to 8GB LPDDR4X RAM, 128GB UFS 2.2 expandable storage, and a 5,020mAh w/ 33W fast charging. It performed well in different benchmarks, multimedia usage, and gaming,

In gaming, COD: Mobile and Mobile Legends: Bang Bang ran smoothly with no problems. In Genshin Impact, can run in High Settings with minimal frame drops even at fights. Marvel Future Fight is a great game to play if you wanna take advantage of the 120Hz refresh rate. It got warmer while gaming for extended periods of time but not extremely hot.

It also has WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS, and 4G LTE. The battery seems big on paper but only recorded 10 hours and 48 minutes in our benchmark. Real-life usage lasted 8 hours with 25 percent left. With a 120Hz refresh rate on the whole day, we only got 4 hours of battery life. In charging, it charged from 0 to 100 percent in under 60 minutes.

For software, it has Android 11 with MIUI 12. MIUI is subject to your liking but overall it is ok. It still has some bloatware still which can be a con for some. It also has an Always-On display feature with tons of customization available.

Pros - Large 1080p AMOLED screen, capable performance, 108MP main camera
Cons - No 5G

Verdict

The Redmi Note 10 Pro is an impressive device with killer specs under PHP 15K. The combination of the Super AMOLED screen at 120Hz, Snapdragon 732G processor, up to 8GB of RAM, 128GB UFS 2.2 expandable storage, and the big battery is a great value for money.  The quad-camera setup is superb with a 108MP main camera.

The only gripe we have is the lack of 5G.

What do you guys think?
