Molnupiravir available on Globe's HealthNow app

Antiviral drug vs COVID now available on Globe's health app

The telco, which has started exploring other digital services, said HealthNow is developed by Ayala Healthcare Holdings, Inc. (AC Health) and Globe’s 917Ventures.

This provides users access to medical professionals for teleconsultation and medicine orders.

Patients may order the antiviral drug with a doctor's prescription.

COVID-19 positive patients interested in molnupiravir may consult with a doctor on the HealthNow app to check eligibility, Globe said.

Citing reports, the group said that molnupiravir "helped cut the rate of hospitalization and death by half in a trial of mild-to-moderately ill patients who had at least one risk factor for the disease."

Just last month, the country Food and Drug Administration gave its approval for the use of Merck's molnupiravir for at-risk patients.

Molnupiravir, used for the treatment of mild to moderate COVID-19 cases, is only available for patients 18 years old and above with "risk factors for developing severe illness" such as senior citizens and those with comorbidities, the FDA said.
