Meta removes "News" from Facebook News Feed amid rebranding!

In the middle of its rebranding effort, Meta is changing something on Facebook that has been a staple for around 15 years. News Feed is no more!

Facebook Feed is now the new official "News Feed"

Well, the news feed as a function is still there. It is just renamed as just simply "Feed". This may be small at first glance but being that the news feed is the social media platform's main interface, this is a significant change.

Facebook said that the function will remain the same and the name change aims to reflect the diverse content users post and see on their feeds. This may also be related to how misinformation about different topics gets more engagement on the platform. Meta has been making efforts on reducing the amount of political content on users' feeds.

In addition, when News Feed was first introduced, users got confused about its functionality. People thought that it will be home to news stories about their interests and world events instead of posts from their Facebook friends. That was 15 years ago and yet people still believe most of the things they see on Facebook without even fact checking. This may help battle misinformation.
