Samsung vs Apple rivalry heats up
In several social media posts, the company said,
Let us know when you're done reheating out leftovers
I'm so sorry, @DuoLingo. They copied us too #Solidarity
Was there range? No. Was it exciting? No. Did it happen? Yes. #ItsTimeToSwitch
Allow us to reintroduce ourselves. 8 years in and still ahead of the fold.
Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.
That's a big slice of Samsung's "dominance" in this space. So our take is the trolling is partly defensive—trying to frame Apple's late entry as less innovative while bracing for the strong competition.
Other foldable players like HUAWEI, Xiaomi, and OPPO weren't mocked this much by Samsung.
This is classic competitive marketing. Mock the rival to assert dominance, but risk giving them visibility. Apple may gain hype even from negative attention, thanks to the strong near-cult following.
To be fair to Samsung, its new
Galaxy Z Fold 8 Series, particularly the Z
Fold 8, is 53 grams lighter and 1.6 mm thinner than the Duo.
However, Apple's first foldable iPhone Duo challenges the Galaxy Z Fold8 with its smooth-looking software and deep ecosystem integration.
In the Philippines, the new iPhone Duo is listed from PHP 159,990 to PHP 254,990.
