MWC 2022: Qualcomm announces new S3 and S5 sound platforms for better wireless audio

Qualcomm S3 and S5 sound platforms are now official

Qualcomm's new audio platforms combine regular Bluetooth with the new low-energy (LE) audio technology standard. This system aims to increase audio quality when listening to music using wireless earbuds, headphones, or speakers.

The Bluetooth LE audio capabilities also allow for audio stream sharing and broadcasting to an infinite number of devices in a secured environment. The Qualcomm S3 and S5 audio processors aim to provide top-of-the-line wireless audio by combining Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 mobile platforms, FastConnect 6900, and the new 7800 subsystems.

According to Qualcomm, it can provide a 16-bit 44.1kHz lossless Bluetooth audio experience and 32kHz super wideband voice call quality. It also supports 68ms ultra-low latency gaming mode which is 25 percent more responsive than the last-gen.

The Qualcomm QCC517x S5 and QCC307x S3 audio platforms will reach the commercial market by the 2nd half of 2022. Some of the partner brands that will first use it are Jabra, Xiaomi, and iQOO.
