10,000 Mbps-powered Smart Home!

Lag-free Smart Home experience!

It's a smart home-inspired room with over 27 devices connected to the internet all at the same time that could be controlled by Google Home. Some of the devices connected include a massive Smart TV, PS5, a full gaming PC setup, an iMac, a Smart Screen, a robot vacuum, an air purifier, several mobile phones, and over 20 smart lights, among others.
The Speedtest!
The Speedtest!

Using the Speedtest by Ookla app installed on the iMac, PLDT's 10,000 Mbps plan achieved a whopping 8,104 Mbps Download speed and 6,094 Mbps Upload speed. We even had a speed test where it reached over 8,000 Mbps for both download and upload.

Note: The maximum achievable rate is up to 8 Gbps upload/download. An approximate 20 percent is allotted for network headers to ensure good transmission.

Note that browser-based speed test apps only support up to 2,000 Mbps, so you will need the Speedtest by Ookla app to get real results.
Great for work and play
Great for work and play

To recap, PLDT promised that it has an 8 Gbps average speed and a 3 Gbps minimum speed at 80 percent reliability. There are "network headers" which lessens the speed by around 20 percent, but this is still 8x faster than the previous fastest plan in the county at 1TB.

Next, we tried to play 4K videos on the Smart TV and there is no lag. The same goes for the PS5 online games.

After that, we used the voice command to activate several gadgets like the air purifier and the robot vacuum.

We also tried controlling the lights using voice commands and it works seamlessly.

They also have a smart mirror there that you can use to play YouTube videos and watch workout videos that you can follow.

Then we also tried to play some Valorant on the gaming PC and do some research after.

Quick thoughts

Me with Raffy of Tech Patrol and the PLDT representative

In general, the experience is silky smooth and we never experienced lag even if there are plenty of devices connected all at the same time.

This means that the 10,000 Mbps fiber plan of PLDT didn't even flinch when we tried to stream super-high-resolution videos, play games, control the smart home via voice, and many more.

We haven't tested it in the said room, but it is a no-brainer that this plan will also be great for ultra-high resolution video calling or for hosting an online meeting or event.

Personally, I even connected by my own laptop and downloaded a few heavy files via Google Drive and finished it in less than a minute.

This is a plan that I would like to have at home for work, play, entertainment, and convenience as it could provide a buttery-smooth smart home experience.

My current 300 Mbps plan is already reasonably fast, but this is beyond fast.

The question is, who is this for? PLDT recommends this plan for heavy users who have plenty of smart devices for their smart homes, competitive gamers or streamers, content creators, those who love to stream high-resolution videos, and have big homes with plenty of users as it can cover up to 6,000 sq ft. of area.

At the moment, the service is available in Metro Manila. Those who are interested can send a request and their area will be checked for network availability.

PLDT Home shared that since most areas already support fiber, it might only need a box to run.

The pricing varies per area though so they haven't told us the exact amount
that you will shell out before enjoying this plan.
