#Photowalk: We tried the vivo Y73's 64MP Night mode
A stunning view of city lights in Ortigas CBD

Launched as a camera-centric device, the vivo Y73 can shoot crisp and vibrant images in almost any scenario. Just a quick recap, a triple rear camera setup is situated on the rear.

But for this photo walk, we only used its primary camera with a 64MP AI Super Night Mode. We want to focus on how it will shine in nighttime photography.

As we mentioned in our full review, this mid-ranger's AI Super Night Mode is a must-try as it comes with algorithms for noise reduction, enabling the Y73 to capture clear photos even in low-light conditions.

Have a look at the shots we got.

As we stroll along ADB Avenue, we caught a glimpse of this elegant upscale mall. Even though it was fairly dark at that time, the Y73 captured a lot of details of this building, including the surrounding infrastructure. Also, goodbye #ElPueblo, you will be missed.

Well, it's almost time for dinner so we decided to take a quick bite in one of these restaurants at Emerald (F. Ortigas Jr. Road). The device managed to eliminate most of the background noise, resulting in a much nicer picture compared to the one without night mode.

The exposure on the "Army Navy logo" is not perfect, but it is better than regular shots.

After that, we headed to one of our go-to coffee places in Ortigas—The Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf. The 64MP camera of the phone was able to capture the cozy and relaxing ambiance of the structure. It has a good amount of detail and exposure.

In addition, the Y73's 64MP camera is packed with City Night filters. You can get to choose from mode styles: Black and Gold, Blue Ice, Green Orange, and CyberPunk.

It may look unnatural for purists (obviously), but we dmit that these filters made some of our photos look more fun and interesting.

While crossing a walkway, we noticed the beauty of these two parallel streets that are void of bustling cars. The Black and Gold filter of the Y73's night mode really emphasized the stark contrast of light and darkness in this photo.

One good thing about this area is the modern and intricately-designed buildings. The Y73's night mode brought so many details of these architectures. Meanwhile, the CyberPunk filter made this picture more dramatic but serene.

On the other hand, the CyberPunk filter gives this futuristic walkway photo on top of the Podium mall a nice captivating effect. The colors are more vivid and the contrast is more noticeable.

Quick thoughts

Priced at PHP 14,999, the vivo Y73 performed well in the dark most of the time.

Thanks to its  AI-supported Super Night Mode, each shot taken is sharper even in poorly-lit areas around the metro.

The Smart AI feature did its job to bring the colors in the images to life. However, we noticed that the system overexposed some shots and underexposed others. We strongly recommend that you need patience and practice in using the night mode feature and night filters to come up with great photos.

But overall, the 64MP night mode of this phone may help you capture your night out with your friends, with Instagram-ready image quality.

What do you guys think?
