Netflix to offer a new plan |
Netflix streaming with ads?
According to co-chief executive officer Ted Sarandos, the company is introducing an ad-supported subscription.
He stressed that the group is "not adding ads to Netflix as you know it today", clarifying that this is targeted at users who want cheaper subscription plans.
We’re adding an ad tier for folks who say, “Hey, I want a lower price and I’ll watch ads", Sarandos said in an interview during the Cannes Lions advertising conference.
Based on a report from TimeOut, many subscribers have already embraced the same model as this has been rolled out to HBO Max. Hulu/Disney+ is also set to launch the plan soon.
Netflix has yet to provide more details on the plan.
Earlier reports showed that Netflix was looking into partnerships with Google and Comcast to provide ads.
