Backbone One Playstation edition announced!

To recap, PS Remote Play lets users play their PS4 or PS5 games on their mobile phones. However, touch control is not suitable for most console users so they still need physical buttons to press.

Insert Backbone a reputable brand for mobile controllers has made the BackBone One PlayStation Edition which is also a first-time collaboration with Sony.

This controller has a look similar to Sony's PS5 DualSense layout. There are four transparent direction buttons and the iconic Square, Triangle, Circle, and X keys. There are two thumbsticks for left and right as well as L1, L2, R1, and R2 keys. You will also notice some navigation, settings, screenshot, and other shortcut keys.

The body of the gamepad also has ports for Lightning Cable so users can charge while gaming and there's a 3.5mm audio jack. Sony says the Backbone One draws power from iPhone so it doesn't need charging.

But don't get your hopes high here as this controller does not include DualSense's immersive "Haptic feedback" and the distinctive "Adaptive triggers" that gives the force and tension according to your in-game gear.

Apart from compatibility with Remote Play, there's also a separate Backbone app which includes updates from PlayStation and navigation without the use of a touch screen.

Of course, the new device can also be used for other games besides the PlayStation app. This includes the COD: Mobile, Genshin Impact, and more.

Moreover, the new product is also not restricted from other console streaming apps such as the Xbox Game Pass.

Finally, Sony has a disclaimer that says

A PS4 or PS5 console, the Remote Play App and an account for PlayStation Network are required to stream your games to other devices. Remote Play can be used with a mobile data connection or Wi-Fi. Broadband internet with at least 5Mbps is required. For a better Remote Play experience, a high-speed connection of at least 15Mbps is recommended using either Wi-Fi or mobile data connection. Titles that require PlayStation VR or other peripherals such as PlayStation Camera are not compatible with PS Remote Play.  Availability of DualSense features such as audio output and haptic effects vary when using remote play on Android, PC, Mac, iPhone, or iPad; some features may not be available
