Twitter is copying TikTok with a new full-screen video feature!
The immersive media viewer's UI

Is it a TikTok clone or not?

In a blog, the platform announced that these updates are designed "to help make it easier to find and watch what's happening." It pointed out,

Videos are a huge part of the public conversation, and they’re one of the most engaging ways people can express themselves online. In fact, videos shared on Twitter receive billions of combined views every year (that’s billions with a "b").

Tagged as the immersive media viewer, the feature expands videos to full screen with a single click, allowing users to easily access the full, immersive viewing experience.

When the features are rolled out, the users will be able to tap on a video in their feed to enter the new scrollable video feed. When done watching, they will be able to scroll up to start browsing more video content.

If the user wants to exit the viewer and go back to the original Tweet, he/she can click the back arrow in the top left corner.

Apparently, this scrollable feed of videos is so alike to the browsing experience on TikTok.
Explore Tab on Twitter

Aside from the scrollable feed, Twitter also reveal a new video carousel within its Explore tab. According to the company, this enables users to easily discover more videos they like, alongside Tweets and Trends that might interest them.

The blog post said that the new immersive media viewer will arrive to iOS in the next few days. Meanwhile, the Explore tab is currently available in select countries (using English) both on iOS and Android.
