Unboxing/Accessories

White box

Like past vivo devices, the vivo Y35 comes in a white box. Printed on the box are the vivo branding, specs, key features, and regulatory information.

There are no included earphones in the box.

Build Quality/Design

Back panel
Back panel

The phone is made of a combination of glass and polycarbonate. The front glass panel is solid feeling and premium looking but it is a fingerprint smudge magnet. The back panel is made of glasstic while the inner frame is made of polycarbonate.

Similar to other vivo devices, the Y35 looks great!

The inner polycarbonate frame has a faux metal finish while the glasstic back with a rough finish looks like glass. The rough texture prevents fingerprint smudges but it makes the phone slippery. We recommend wearing the silicone case that comes in the box.

Because of these materials, the phone is super lightweight.

In front is the 6.58-inch 2.5D curved LCD with a 2408 x 1080 resolution and a 90Hz refresh rate. Around the panel are slim side bezels but with a thicker chin bezel.

One comment here is it is still using a notch display in 2022...

On top is the notch that houses the selfie camera and above that is the slim earpiece.

On top is the SIM tray while on the bottom is the 3.5mm audio jack, microphone port, USB-C port, and speaker grill.

The SIM tray can carry up to two nanoSIM cards and one microSD card and it features a rubber gasket. This indicates a form of water and dust resistance.

Inside is a large 5,000mAh battery with 44W fast charging. 44W is one of the fastest for the price.

On the left side is a smooth surface while on the right side are the volume rocker and the power button.

The phone measures 164.3 x 76.1 x 8.28 mm and weighs 182 grams.

At the back of the phone are the 50MP f/1.8 primary camera, a 2MP f/2.4 macro sensor, and a 2MP f/2.4 depth sensor with an LED flash.

While on the punch hole is the 16MP f/2.0 selfie shooter.

We will be running the phone thru more camera tests so stay tuned.

Priced at PHP 14,999, the vivo Y35 with the SD680 and 256GB of storage is in an interesting position as the vivo T1 5G with an SD 778G and 128GB of storage is priced at PHP 17,999. The vivo Y76 with 5G and 44W charging is also currently priced at just PHP 14,999.

The Y35 has an eye-catching design with a lightweight body. The attractive features of the device so far are its 90Hz LCD screen even if it has a noticeable chin bezel + notch, 8GB RAM + 8GB Extended RAM, large 256GB of storage, and 5,000mAh big battery with 44W fast charging.

We are also excited about its 50MP primary camera and the 16MP selfie cameras.

What could be a concern is the polycarbonate frame and glasstic back panel. The chip it is using is one of the slowest under PHP 15K as well.
