Apple released the MacBook Pro 2023 in 2 sizes, one a 14-inch and another 16-inch featuring upgraded M2 processors.
Both sizes have choices for either the M2 Pro or the Max version. But before that, the M2 Pro has two variants as well. The first is a 10-core CPU, 16-core GPU combo and the other has a 12-core and 19-core GPU combo. Both have a 16-core Neural Engine and 200GB/s memory bandwidth.
As the main highlight, Apple claims they bring about 20 percent greater performance versus the M1 Pro chip.
Next is the M2 Max processor, it has a 12-core CPU but the GPU has choices for either a 30-core or 38-core. It continues with a 16-core Neural Engine and supports 400GB/s memory bandwidth. This one also beats the M1 Max by 20 percent and has a better media engine than the M2 Pro. It comes with twice the ProRes acceleration to significantly speed up media playback and transcoding as per the brand's claims.
The 14-inch display has a 3023 x 1964 resolution while the 16-inch has a 3456 x 2234 resolution. Both use Liquid Retina XDR panels, ProMotion tech 120Hz adaptive refresh rate, and up to 1000 nites max brightness.
They come with up to 32GB unified memory but the Max versions can be upgraded up to 64 while the Max variant with 32-core GPU can push to 96GB unified RAM instead.
For storage, they come with the usual 512GB, 1TB SSD but can also be upgraded to 2TB, 4TB, or 8TB in case you'll need them in the future.
Another highlight is that the enhanced chip also brings more juice to laptops. Apple states that they now can deliver up to 18-22 hours of battery which is the longest battery yet for a MacBook. For charging there are 67W, 96W, and 140W adapters that will vary depending on how high the model is.
Others are a 1080p FaceTime HD camera, Advanced image signal processor with computational video, Studio quality three-mic array, 3.5mm headphone jack, and HiFi speakers.
For ports, there are 3x USB-C Thunderbolt 4 with PD, and DisplayPort supports as well. It also comes with an SDXC card slot, HDMI 2.1 port, and MagSafe 3 port.
Lastly, they both use macOS Ventura for their software.
