GCash to be soon available in the US

GCash announced it will be expanding its reach to make its services available in the United States.

According to GMA News Online, the mobile wallet’s announcement came after less than a month GCash got the go signal from the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas for the beta launch of GCash Overseas in Japan, Australia, and Italy.

Now that we have activated GCash outside of the Philippines, we are now working towards making it available in more countries. This time, we are adding the US to our list to be able to service over 4 million of our kababayans residing there, GCash President and CEO Martha Sazon said.

GCash said its services will be initially available to the first 1,000 Filipinos in the US to sign up using their American SIMs.

To be able to use GCash services, Filipinos in the said countries just have to download the app through the App Store, Google Play Store, or the Huawei Gallery.

Account verification will require scanning one’s Philippine passport or other valid ID, as well as taking a selfie.

Once fully verified, users can cash in through Remitly to be able to send money, pay bills, and buy load.

Aside from this, GCash said it can now be used in select merchants in countries like Japan, South Korea, Singapore, Malaysia, Qatar, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, and Italy.
