Refund for service interruptions?

The proposed Senate Bill 2074, if passed, would require industry players to establish a mechanism that could provide an automatic refund or adjust the bills of subscribers whenever there are outages.

The measure, which also seeks to amend Section 20 of the Public Telecommunications Policy Act of the Philippines, targets to cover an aggregate period of 24 hours of disruption or more within a month.

Why should we pay for a service that we have not benefited from? And at a time when almost everything depends on gadgets and digital devices, it is important to have a fast, accessible, and reliable connection, Estrada said.

The goal of accelerating connectivity would only achieve if internet connection services are reliable and consistent, he added.

A similar Senate bill was also filed by Sen. Bong Revilla.
