Samsung improves the flip (2023)

The biggest change is the new Samsung Galaxy Z Flip5 now features a bigger outer (cover) screen at 3.4 inches from the 1.9-inch of the Galaxy Z Flip4.

Thanks to this improvement, its users can now add widgets, graphical clocks, custom images, videos, and even stylish frames on the outer screen. Moreover, its users may now view calendars, alerts, messages, and even send replies from the Flex Window with QWERTY.

Samsung also updated its hinge design. It now uses a new integrated module with a double rail for a flat or zero-gap hinge making its screen have less crease.

The company also claims that it can withstand about 200,000 folds certified by Bureau Veritas. In comparison, its competitor from OPPO, the Find N2 Flip can withstand 400,000 folds.

It also retained its IPX8 water resistance which is impressive for a foldable smartphone.

Samsung also updated its chip to the newer and faster Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 coming from the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 of the Z Flip4. It is paired with 8GB RAM and 256GB or 512GB internal storage as well.

What's disappointing is its battery remains at just 3,700mAh. It also has USB-C  25W fast charging, 15W wireless charging, and 4.5W reverse wireless.

For cameras, you get a 12MP f/1.8 with AF and OIS as well as a 12MP f/2.2 123-degree ultra-wide-angle and an LED flash at the back. For selfies, it has a 10MP f/2.4 shooter found on the top-center punch-hole of its folding display.
