TECNO Phantom V Flip announced: Circular Cover screen, 6.9-inch folding display, Dimensity 8050 chip, 64MP cam!

Flip phone with premium features made affordable?
The TECNO Phantom V Flip is the company's second foldable smartphone after the Phantom V Fold earlier this year. It is also the brand's very first flip-style handset with a folding display.
The handset highlights a premium-looking lychee-pattern classic leather at the back and the so-called "Planet Cover Screen". The said screen is a 1.32-inch AMOLED panel with 466 x 466 resolution at 352 ppi at 800 nits peak brightness.

What makes this cover screen unique is it uses a circular design that is aesthetically center-aligned.
TECNO also boasts that it has customizable wallpapers, Tmojis (TECNO's version of Memoji), 3D interactive virtual pets, and more. It also has Swipe Shots to easily access the camera, "quick reply" to messages, Smart Widgets with the weather forecast, vitality rings, timer, sound recording, agenda, stopwatch, and alarms.

The main folding display uses a "crease-less" 6.9-inch UTG-protected LTPO AMOLED screen with 10-120Hz refresh rate, 360Hz touch sampling rate, 1440Hz PWM dimming, and FHD+ 2640 x 1080 resolution at 413 ppi.
TECNO claims that it has 1,000 nits peak brightness and a super-immersive 94.5 percent screen-to-body ratio.

When it comes to the folding mechanism or the hinge, TECNO introduced the new "FreeCam System" on the Phantom V Flip. This allows its users to fold the device at 30 to 150 degrees which is stable at any angle. According to the company, this helps content creators take selfies and photos easier.
For durability, TECNO used aircraft-grade metal materials. It can also survive up to 250,000 folds which is equivalent to 6.8 years at 100 folds per day. After 200,000 folds, there will be a minimal 0.11mm crease.
Under the hood, TECNO used the 6nm MediaTek Dimensity 8050 octa-core processor with Mali-G77 MC9 GPU. In Snapdragon terms, this performs in the middle of SD778G and SD870.
In terms of battery, TECNO included a fairly large 4,000mAh capacity that can last for an entire day. It even has a USB-C 45W charging that can give it up to 50 percent juice in 15 minutes of charging or 45 minutes to fully charge the handset.
TECNO claims that it is also the very first flipping foldable smartphone in the world with ultra-thin VC cooling to keep its performance in check.

At the back, it uses a 64MP f/1.7 RGBW sensor w/ PDAF + 13MP ultra-wide-angle + LED flash. TECNO claims that this camera setup has improved low light performance and overall stills performance.
In front, it has a 32MP snapper with AF and Micro-slit Dual-flash.

Completing the specs, the device has a side-mounted fingerprint reader, stereo speakers, dual-band WiFi, 5G, 4G LTE, BT 5.3, and Android 13 OS with HiOS 13.5 skin.
This also has the Ella GPT assistant that uses Ella 3.0 tech connected to ChatGPT.
