Samsung files lawsuit against BOE!

The South Korean tech giant has accused BOE of using the stolen intellectual property of Samsung to manufacture OLED display modules and unfair competition.

In fact, these two electronic firms have a beef history. Previously, Samsung Display made an attempt to prevent wholesalers from dealing with OLED panels in the US, as the company claimed they were being created illegally in China using stolen technology. At that time, BOE wasn't specifically targeted, but in response, BOE paid the wholesaler's expenses. ITC responded to these activities by initiating an investigation in the early months of 2023.

Meanwhile, BOE also previously started multiple lawsuits against Samsung in China, but not just over Samsung Display, BOE also sued the semiconductor, investment, and vision branches as well. This may be the reason why Samsung suddenly aimed for BOE directly.

Furthermore, it's worth mentioning that BOE is currently battling to be included in Apple's list of suppliers for OLED panels however, the firm finds it hard to meet high standards of quality control. Also earlier this year, Samsung was the main supplier for the iPhone 15 series and kept BOE out of the picture.
