Admit it or not, Wikipedia is one of the go-to websites when searching for answers to your questions. English Wikipedia received over 84 billion views this year alone, according to data from Wikimedia Foundation, the nonprofit that hosts Wikipedia.

With all the buzz on various trendy topics this year, what Wikipedia page became the most viewed page this 2023?

First on the list was… ChatGPT with 49,490,406 pageviews.

In line with this mass public interest, the English Wikipedia article carried a remarkably consistent level of attention throughout the first half of the year: its pageviews ranged between 100,000 and 400,000 nearly every day. In fact, across all of the languages Wikipedia supports, we registered over 78 million pageviews to ChatGPT articles, Wikimedia said.

Landing second was Deaths in 2023 which lists the notable deaths that occurred in the past year. This was followed by sports events 2023 Cricket World Cup, and Indian Premier League. Rounding up the top 5 was the film Oppenheimer.
