Its website teases that it will bring "a new era of personalized networking".

It added that it will be "Bringing it Back to the People" (the service) while claiming that Friendster is now better than ever.

Rediscover the enchantment of the early social network era, now rejuvenated with a contemporary twist. Friendster is better than ever and for the people.

CNN Indonesia reports that Friendster will return in the near future.

To recap, Friendster was one of the most popular social media platforms in the 2000s. It was founded by Canadian computer programmer Jonathan Abrams in 2002. In 2008, it had 37.1 million active users with the majority of users in Asia. 

Some of its notable features include testimonials, shoutouts, and comments.

Alexa's data on May 7, 2009, said that the top 10 countries using it include the Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Pakistan, United Arab Emirates, Sudan, South Korea, Bangladesh, and India.

In 2011, it transformed into a social entertainment site for gaming and entertainment. In 2015, it closed its website and officially ceased to exist as a company in 2018.

In 2022, sketchy rumors stated that it was coming back.
