Globe expands its 5G footprint abroad!

As of the end of 2024, Globe has 894 new 5G sites in the Philippines and around the world. The company noted it was a huge step towards improving digital connection and empowering Filipinos everywhere.

Globe obtained 92.36 percent outdoor coverage in major Visayan and Mindanao cities and 97.90 percent outdoor coverage in the National Capital Region in 2023. Globe recorded more than 5.8 million devices linked to its 5G network in December 2023 alone as a result of these advancements.

Meanwhile, Globe noted that they strategically toned down its spending on new 5G sites and has considered current market conditions and the search for viable use cases that fully utlizes the potential of 5G tech. Globe added this approahc showcases its dedication to moving forward with technology and ensures its strategic and sustainable application.

In the meantime, Globe has increased the number of its 5G roaming partners to 156 worldwide locations, covering 82 different countries. With the inclusion of Nigeria via MTN, Mauritius via Cellplus and an upcoming agreement with Kenya through Africell, Globe now has the widest footprint in Africa.

The company has collaborated with Tele2 and LaoTel, and has expanded its presence in Asia like Kazakhstan and Laos.

Additionally, Globe has formed 5G roaming alliances with Emnify and E-Plus Mobilfunk in Germany, China Unicom in Hong Kong, LG Uplus in Korea, Mobile Norway in Norway, Cellcom and YTL in Malaysia, Tele2 and COM4 in Sweden, and DTAC in Thailand.

Moreover, Globe collaborates with international networks such as Dialog in Sri Lanka, Orange in Egypt, and Manx Telecom in the Isle of Man, allowing international visitors in the Philippines to enjoy 5G speeds.
