itel takes full responsibility on "Piso Sale" fiasco

itel Philippines issued a statement regarding its viral Piso sale in TikTok that became a tragedy last Saturday.

You have probably encountered this fiasco over the week on social media. For those who don't know yet, itel held a live stream Piso Sale in TikTok last Saturday (July 6) together with Unbox Diaries.

Initially, itel intended to sell only 1 unit but then changed it to 10 units. However, the brand committed a shortcoming and has sold 6,500 units of the itel A50 worth PHP 3,199 for just PHP 1 peso.

This, in turn, has resulted in a major loss for the phone maker (around PHP 15M+). Meanwhile, itel team and Unbox Diaries initially asked customers to cancel their orders due to the tragedy.

But today, itel has decided to fully take responsibility for what happened and thus will honor the units purchased at just PHP 1 peso.

itel also apologized to the affected customers and to Unbox Diaries who received countless bashings.

To all our valued customers, We extend our sincerest apologies for the inconvenience caused to all our valued users and to Unbox Diaries during our recent livestream event on July 6 on their TikTok account. We also acknowledge any shortcomings in our initial response to the incident and are committed to addressing them.

As a brand committed to providing a reliable smart life, itel upholds a 'user-first' philosophy and takes full responsibility for our mistakes. In alignment with this commitment and to address the situation, we will be issuing a Chat Voucher worth 2,898 Pesos to each affected customer (one voucher per buyer) through direct messaging. This voucher can be used for purchases at the itel TikTok Shop official store (itel PH store), allowing you to re-order the A50 with just 1 Peso or to purchase any other itel products (The voucher will be valid until July 31). We assure you that we are using this incident as an opportunity to refine our processes, thereby enhancing the user shopping experience and ensuring the continued delivery of the dependable quality you expect from itel.

itel's voucher instructions:

1. itel PH account will send the Chat Voucher to each affected customer in the TikTok Shop official itel PH store.

2. Please check your TikTok Shop messages to receive the Chat Voucher.

3. Click 'USe" and you will be redirected to the itel TikTok official store.

4. USe the voucher to reorder the A50 with just 1 peso or buy any other itel product.

5. Add the product to your cart place the order and enjoy.

Meanwhile, itel noted the Chat Voucher distribution will be in batches so if you have yet to receive it just kindly wait and it will arrive within 2-3 days.
