realme confirmed the arrival of the C63 in the Philippines and we already got our hands on it to share a glimpse of the phone with you.
Meet realme C63

To recall this phone boasts a premium and slim design in the affordable segment which is tagged with fast charging and guaranteed smooth performance of up to 4 years as per realme's claims.

Let's see what is inside the box.

For starters, the phone arrived with the brand's iconic Yellow box which bears the device's name and the realme's logo.

Inside, you'll find the realme C63 unit, USB-C cable, 45W SUPERVOOC, free case, SIM injector tool, the usual papers for warranty, and quick guide.

Build Quality/Design

Upon getting a hold of the phone, it feels durable with its hard frames despite being made of plastic. Meanwhile, the iPhone-like squarish camera island is made of aluminum with a smooth texture to compliment the leather faux back.

We're surprised by its build quality, especially for being in the affordable segment which usually doesn't have high standards of durability rating.

Designed to be extra durable?

realme claims it has a "Weather Proof Design" made to withstand unintended drops and high or cold temperatures ensuring users of a high-quality product.

If that's not enough, it even has an IP54 rating so it can handle some water splashes or dusts for a certain time.

Still, though, realme did not say any type of glass protection here so keep in mind to avoid dropping the phone intentionally.

We love that realme has claims stating that this device is built to last. But, while their track record on durability is pretty good, only time will tell.

Anyways, the realme C63 has two design choices. The first one comes with Leather Blue which is the one we have while the other is called Jade Green. The faux leather material used is quite slim and has a grippy texture so you won't easily drop it.

Overall, this gives a premium feel as if you're holding a mid-range device.

In front, the phone has a 6.74-inch LCD (IPS) w/ 90Hz refresh and HD+ 1600x 720 resolution and 540 nits of peak brightness.

As you can see it has slim bezels on top and the sides. But, there is still a notch on top and the chin bezel is thicker than what we would have wanted.

The display's Rainwater Smart Touch feature is worth mentioning, which enables users to still accurately touch the screen with wet hands or display.

This can be particularly useful when you need to navigate on the device in wet scenarios such as when it is raining or answering the phone when washing the dishes among many others.

Among its highlights is the 45W SUPERVOOC fast charging which realme claims can reach 50 percent battery in just 30 minutes and be full in 79 minutes.

It is also equipped with 38 types of charge protection. With that, it has received TUV Rheinland Safe Fast-Charge System Certification to ensure consumers of the highest standards when it comes to safety.

Another worth mentioning is realme's claims of 48-month fluency. This means the phone will be smooth for the next 4 years thanks to the brand's optimized hardware and software.

The phone maker also talks about the "Real Essentials". This phone has useful AI functions for Noise Reduction, Air Gestures, Dynamic buttons, Mini Capsule, AI Boost, Riding Mode, and Customized lowest brightness. All of which are made to improve user experience.

The realme C63

For cameras, it uses a 50MP f/1.8 main shooter with PDAF focus and a 2MP AI camera together with an LED flash. In front, it has an 8MP f/2.0 snapper with Beauty mode.

On paper, there's really nothing special about these cameras. But for the price, we think that the back camera is quite respectable.

During our initial samples, it takes decent pictures with nicely detailed quality, and color accuracy in properly lit situations. It can also do bokeh effects although its edge detection result is somewhat expected for an entry-level phone.

We will test the phone's camera further in our full review soon.

As of the moment

So far, we think that the realme C63 should meet what most basic users need in a smartphone, but with added durability.

This may be essential for those who want to keep their phones for a long time and just change them when it's broken or lost.

Moreover, it comes with useful features made to aid users in their daily activities, it has an IP54 rating to prevent dust accumulation and water damage, Rainwater Smart Touch, AI features, and decent cameras.

Lastly, it comes with a large RAM to enable reasonably smooth multitasking and big internal storage for an entry-level smartphone.

The chipset is entry-level though, so we are expecting an affordable price tag.

We still have to hear from the company about its pricing though.
