Google Pixel 9 Pro, 9 Pro XL launched: Google Tensor G4, Ultrasonic fingprint, 50MP main cameras

Apart from the vanilla Pixel 9, Google also announced the Pixel 9 Pro and 9 Pro XL.

Google Pixel 9 Pro and 9 Pro XL are now official

The Pixel 9 Pro and XL features a silky matte back with a sleek metal frame and comes with Pink, White, Gray, and Black color choices.

At the front, it uses a 6.3-inch Super Actua LTPO panel with a 1-120Hz refresh rate and 2856 x 1280 resolution. The XL uses a larger 6.8-inch screen with 2992 x 1344 resolution and a similar refresh rate. Both are also protected with Gorilla Glass Victus 2 for further scratch and drop resistance, and an Ultrasonic In-Display fingerprint scanner is used.

The features

Inside, both are using the new Tensor G4 processor with Titan M2 security chip, 16GB LPDDR5X RAM, 128GB/256GB/512GB/1TB UFS 3.1 storage.

For battery, they slightly differ as the 9 Pro uses 4,700mAh while the XL has 5,060mAh capacity. In terms of charging they have 27W or 37W and 21W or 23W for wireless, respectively.

For cameras, the phones have 50MP Samsung GNK main cam + 48MP Sony IMX858 ultra-wide + 48MP IMX858 5x telephoto camera and up to 30x digital zoom.

For selfies, both have a 42MP Sony IMX858 shooter as well.

Other features noted are stereo speakers, and IP68 dust and water resistance rating.

For connectivity, both phones feature 5G SA/NSA, 4G VoLTE, WiFi 7, Bluetooth 5.3, GPS, and NFC.

Software-wise they both run Android 14 with 7 years of updates for OS, Security, and Feature Drop.
