Xiaomi will introduce button-less smartphone next year

Reports circulated on the web that Xiaomi is developing a phone without buttons on its frame.

Xiaomi is reportedly working on a phone without buttons

Based on the tipster Chun Bhai in relation to Smartprix, the alleged device will have a codename "Zhuque". The unique feature will be the absence of physical buttons for power and volume rockers.

However, the tipster did not specify what would replace the physical buttons. Fans can probably anticipate a mix of gesture controls, pressure-sensitive edges, or voice commands.

Another info on the leak said the alleged device will have an under-display front camera and a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 4 chip. That SoC also comes with a codename SM8775 and is anticipated to debut in the Xiaomi 15S Pro sometime between April and June 2025.

Anyway, it's not the first time we've seen a phone without physical buttons. We've seen it previously from Meizu Zero and the vivo Apex 2019 or 2020 as well.

It's intriguing what unique innovation Xiaomi can bring to the table with regard to the button-less smartphone next year.
