Reorganization of airports

The Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) has said that around 30 percent of turboprop planes will be moved to Clark International Airport or other secondary airports by March.

As reported by ABS-CBN, turboprop airplanes carry about 60 passengers and can reach regional destinations in the Philippines such as Camiguin, Calbayog, Siargao, Masbate, Surigao, Busuanga, and Naga.

Airlines affected are Cebu Pacific (CebGo) and Philippine Airlines (PAL Express).

MIAA head executive assistant Atty. Manuel Jeffrey David said smaller airlines—such as Sunlight Air, Island Aviation, and Air Swift—with an all-turboprop fleet will have one year from March to implement the transfer.

David said the transfer would allow the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) to accommodate more passengers as authorities rationalize the capacity of the NAIA.

According to the official, the decision to move the turboprop flights was made by the Manila Slot Coordination Committee.

Noel Manankil, president and CEO of Clark International Airport’s (CRK) operator Luzon International Premier Airport Development Corp, assured that Clark can accommodate more flights.

What do you think guys?
