HUAWEI beats Xiaomi and Apple in Q1 global wearable sales

HUAWEI has topped the list of brands in the global wearable market in the first quarter. Selling 10 million units of smartwatches, the tech giant beat Xiaomi and Apple.

Citing an IDC report, HUAWEI's global sales were driven by Watch GT 5, Fit 3, and Ultimate models.

The brand earned a global wearable market share of 21.9 percent year-on-year. In Q1 last year, HUAWEI shipped 7 million wearable units last year during the same period, with a 17 percent market share.

HUAWEI also topped the Chinese wearable market in Q1.


Meanwhile, Xiaomi ranked second overall with 8.7 million unit sales and 19 percent of the market share. It was followed by Apple, with 7.0 million shipments and a 15.5 percent market share.

Completing the top five were Samsung and Garmin, with 3.4 million and 2.1 shipments.

Overall, the global wearable market logged 45.57 million shipments, up 10.5 percent. China accounted for 17.62 million units.
