The Philippines receives the UN E-Government Award
The result? The Philippines was awarded the UN E-Government Award last June 25 at the 2025 UN Public Service Forum in Samarkand, Uzbekistan, by the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN DESA).
The country was recognized for significantly improving its ranking in key digital benchmarks—the E-Government Development Index (EGDI) and Online Service Index (OSI)—rising from "High" to "Very High" in both, and jumping more than 15 places globally.
David Almirol Jr., the DICT Undersecretary for E-Government, credited this achievement to President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.'s vision of making public services more efficient, inclusive, and future-ready. This is part of the government's strong push for digital transformation.
Some of the key projects of the government
- eGov PH Super App - Now has over 13 million users and processed over 150 million transactions
- eGovDX platform - Supports over 500 million transactions across 1,000+ government systems
- 21 out of 25 planned e-Government platforms are already active - It includes eGovAI, ePay, eTravel, and eSignature
- Digital National ID system - Issued over 87 million digital IDs, supporting secure eKYC features.
The government's eGovCloud infrastructure backs these platforms with over 3,000 government servers across multiple cloud services.
This achievement also coincided with UN Public Service Day and aligns with the country's goals under the Sustainable Development Agenda.
