Limiting access to gambling
E-wallet giants GCash and Maya have announced that they will fully commit to removing their platforms' in-app links to online gambling.
This development follows an order from the BSP that directs all BSP-supervised institutions "to remove links providing in-app gambling access" from their applications and websites within 48 hours, PhilStar said in a report.
GCash will fully comply with the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas' (BSP) proactive directive to remove links and icons that connect payment apps to online gambling platforms, the report quoted GCash
The platform said it will "immediately enforce" the changes once it receives the official directive.
Meanwhile, Maya said it is "focused on serving our customers while fully complying with regulatory requirements."
BSP's directive was first announced at a Senate hearing on August 14.
Given the 48-hour deadline, BSP-supervised institutions, including e-wallets, have until Saturday to comply.
