Hybrid tablet coming soon?

HUAWEI has scheduled a launch event for November 25 in China, where the company is expected to introduce several new products.

Reports indicate the event will feature the debut of the Mate 80 series smartphones and the Mate X7 foldable phone.

Meanwhile, the company is also anticipated to announce the MatePad Edge, a high-end 2-in-1 tablet and laptop hybrid, with recent leaks providing further details on this device.

According to the tipster Digital Chat Station, the device is reported to include a 14.2-inch OLED screen and a Kirin 9-series chipset. It is also expected to support a keyboard and stylus, run on HarmonyOS, and be available in Moonlight Silver and Space Gray color options.

Another source, UncleShan, indicated that the MatePad Edge 14.2 is an upgraded version of the MateBook E in a 2-in-1 form factor, featuring a dual-fan design. The device is described as bridging tablet and PC ecosystems, with a high-end market positioning and a corresponding price point.

HUAWEI previously released the MateBook E, a 2-in-1 laptop-tablet hybrid, in 2021, followed by the MateBook E Go in 2022. Both of those models came with Windows preinstalled.

But the upcoming MatePad Edge is said to represent a rebranding of the MatePad E line and, as noted, will operate on HarmonyOS.
