As per the Philippine Institute for Development Studies' data, the country is uniquely vulnerable to both natural and man-made calamities, a reality that cost consumers 107.5 million hours of power in 2021 alone. Whether it’s scorching summer heat or the peak of typhoon season, outages are not a matter of if, but when.
If you are a work-from-home professional, traveller, or simply just a prepared home or office owner, you might want to take a look at Jackery's products designed to be your lifeline when the grid goes down.
Jackery Explorer 100 Plus
 |
| The Explorer 100 Plus |
This is an entry-level tiny power station that can fit in your palm. But don't get fooled by its small appearance, as the device boasts a 99.2WHr or 31,000mAh LiFePO4 battery capacity.
It can be beneficial for users looking for a budget emergency power source or something that they can carry around for their trips.
Despite also having a large capacity, it only weighs 965 grams, making it easy to bring anywhere you go.
 |
| Can charge multiple devices |
The Jackery Explorer 100 Plus is priced at PHP 6,999, and it can allow users to power up to 3 devices simultaneously. You can plug in your smartphone, laptop, or any device as long as they have USB-C or A ports.
Speaking of which, the device has a total of three ports, such as the 2x USB-C 100W dual PD fast charging, and a USB-A 18W port.
The brand advertised this as a capable unit that can charge a MacBook Air for 1.4x, the latest iPhones for up to 7.8x, or a Nintendo Switch for 7.6x.
Meanwhile, the Jackery Explorer 100 Plus features six forms of protection. It is constructed with UL94V-0 rated flame-retardant material and offers Class 9 impact resistance, complying with UL safety standards.
The unit is also drop-tested for durability, withstanding three drops from 0.9 meters. Additionally, it is UL certified and includes high-temperature protection up to 60°C, along with intelligent dual-chip protection supported by five temperature probes for precise thermal control.
In case this small tank runs out of juice, you'll only have to wait for around 1.8 hours when using an AC adapter or 2.5 hours if connected to a car adapter. Moreover, it has up to 2,000 charging cycles, retaining its 80 percent capacity even after a long time.
It is also compatible with Jackery's Solar Saga Series, providing uninterrupted power anytime and anywhere.
Finally, the box includes a USB-C cable and the unit itself, plus a couple of quick guides and a warranty.

| The Explorer 300 Plus |
Jackery Explorer 300 Plus
Now, if you have a slightly higher budget and are looking for a mid-tier alternative, the Jackery Explorer 300 Plus has you covered.
Priced at PHP 16,999, this device has an increased weight of 3.75 kg and a carry handle for outdoor use.
With this size, though still portable, we highly recommend putting this in your backpack or car. But if you're strong enough to lift its weight, then it can still be passable for hand-carrying.
 |
| Multiple ports and display function |
Inside, it is packed with a larger 288WHr LiFePO4 battery. This is nearly 3x higher capacity than the Explorer 100 plus for longer, reliable charging usage. It can also produce up to 300W output, allowing appliances to be plugged in.
It has 2x USB-C ports (100W), a USB-A port with 15W max, an AC output, a car port (10A), an AC input (10A), and a DC input (100W).
As mentioned above, this can handle a more power-hungry electronic device. Jackery claims it can handle up to 4.2 hours of TV, 5 charges on drones, a mini-refrigerator on vacation trips, lights, or blenders.
Of course, it can still perform usual charges on phones and laptops.
In our case, we were able to test it out on a Purifier, some lights, and an electric fan, which it ran flawlessly.
Additionally, the Explorer 300 Plus is constructed from UL 94V-0 rated flame-retardant material, delivering Class 9 impact resistance and meeting UL safety standards for drop protection (tested for 0.9 m drops, three times).
Since it's also UL certified, the device offers high-temperature protection at 60°C, along with intelligent dual-chip protection supported by five temperature probes for precise temperature control.
In terms of charging the Explorer 300 Plus, the company says it can be filled within 2 hours using an AC adapter, 5.5 hours on a car adapter, and 9.5 hours if using the Solar Saga 40W.
Jackery Explorer 1000 V2
 |
| The Explorer 1000 V2 |
Priced at PHP 44,999, this unit is now for users with a bigger family or group. The Explorer 1000 Plus carries real muscle with its 1070WHr LiPo4 battery.
It can also handle 1500W continuous AC output with a 3000W surge peak. That should be more than enough to run your heavy appliances, whether at home or on the go.
While it has a portable design with its handle, the 1000 V2 model weighs around 10.8 kg, which will require additional strength when carrying. If you have a push cart, it should help you when transporting this.
Moreover, the device has multiple ports at its disposal: 2x USB-C with 100W output, 1x USB-A at 18W, DC USB-A and AC, and 3x 1500W AC ports for your appliances.
We also liked that it has functional light, making it an additional light source when camping or in emergencies.
Speaking of which, the 1000 V2 supports emergency charging through the app, allowing users to instantly fill the device in just 1 hour. So this can be ideal for sudden trips that require you to have it fully charged before leaving.
In normal charging scenarios, you'd only have to wait for 1.7 hours on wall charging, 3.8 hours for a 200W x 2 Solar panel, and for 1x, it will be 7.5 hours of waiting.
Charging it via a carport would require a total of 12 hours.
In terms of performance, Jackery mentioned that it can handle a Fridge (200W) up to 4 hours, a 600W coffee maker for 1.5 hours, and 0.8 hours on the Microwave with 1200W.
With such a large capacity, you'll be able to perform your ordinary activities that require electricity during brownouts for a certain period, depending on the power consumption of your electronic device.

| The Solar Saga 100W |
Jackery Solar Saga 100W and 200W
As we've been mentioning above, Jackery also offers solar panels that can work seamlessly with their power stations.
Still, the Solar Saga 100W and 200W work standalone, however, with limited ports of USB-A at 5V 2.4A and USB-C 5V 3A.
Jackery says it has a peak power of 100W or 200W, respectively, allowing users to charge small devices like their mobile phones and fans directly.
It has a foldable design so you can still carry it around on your trips and even fit easily in the compartment of your car. It weighs 4.69 kg, a manageable weight for quick transports.
The 100W model also supports IP65 dust and water resistance. This rating can handle typical splashes and rain showers, though prolonged exposure may affect its long-term durability.
 |
| The Solar Saga 200W |
Meanwhile, the 200W has IP68 dust and water resistance, providing extra protection and allowing longer exposure to dirt and rain. Still, the IP rating is subject to wear and tear and will still degrade over time.
That's okay, after all, the rains do not last very long unless there are typhoons.
Moving forward, as long as there is sunlight, these solar panels can technically give an unlimited source of electricity at up to 200W peak power since they are designed for outdoor usage.
 |
| Suitable for outdoor use |
If you're wondering if they do work at night, well, the brand claims they don't. However, in emergencies like typhoons, there will be limited power generation if there are heavy clouds in the sky.
Great for emergencies and beyond
Fortunately, it is still enough to work indoors as we've observed personally during our testing, though with limited output.
The Jackery Solar Saga 100W is priced at PHP 14,999, while the 200W model retails for PHP 23,999.
 |
| Folding design + stand at the rear |
Again, if you are the type to prepare for emergencies, it is highly recommended to use both a solar panel and a power station together for a more reliable power source. This setup just gives more ports to charge while having a near constant energy when needed.
Since we are also entering the summer season, rotational brownouts are expected, and with the national energy emergency crisis going on in the Philippines, theoretically, there's a chance we may need this more often.
