Roblox agrees to tighten Child safety
The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) announced Tuesday that it has dropped plans to ban Roblox in the Philippines after the online gaming platform pledged to strengthen child safety measures on its platform.
The announcement, posted on the DICT's official Facebook page, followed a meeting held on April 7, 2026, involving officials from Roblox, the Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center (CICC), and various law enforcement agencies.
At the meeting, Roblox presented a set of enhanced platform safeguards, including stricter content monitoring, expanded reporting mechanisms, and tighter age-appropriate content controls.
The DICT said Roblox is also set to launch an information campaign beginning April 12, 2026, aimed at educating parents on responsible platform use.
The campaign will cover measures such as monitoring screen time, setting limits on in-app purchases, blocking inappropriate content, and selecting age-suitable experiences for children.
Digital safety is the responsibility of the platform, government, and every family. Let us watch over and protect the Filipino youth in the online space together, the DICT said in a statement.
The development comes after the CICC had previously indicated that an outright ban would be a last resort. Authorities had raised concerns over user anonymity on the platform, following reports that some minors were allegedly targeted for recruitment into illegal activities.

Roblox is a virtual gaming platform that allows users to create, share, and play user-generated games. New users can access the platform by installing the application and creating a profile and avatar.
The agreement was reached ahead of the April 10 deadline that the DICT had set for Roblox to respond to the child safety concerns.
