Globe expands 5G network as mobile data usage drives Q1 2026 Growth
Mobile connectivity has become a core part of daily life for many Filipinos, supporting activities such as entertainment, online shopping, education, business operations, and communication.
Globe Telecom said it continues to invest in network quality, customer experience, and emerging technologies to support its mobile business amid these shifting digital habits.
The company reported the rollout of 408 new 5G sites during the first quarter, bringing outdoor 5G population coverage to more than 98% in Metro Manila and key cities in the Visayas and Mindanao.
Data usage rises
Mobile data now accounts for 89% of Globe's total mobile service revenues, up from 85% a year earlier, according to the company. This reflects a continued shift toward digital services over traditional voice and SMS use.
Globe's mobile business posted Php30.0 billion in revenues for the first quarter of 2026, a 6% increase year-on-year. The company's mobile subscriber base grew to approximately 67 million customers during the same period.
Mobile data revenues rose 11% year-on-year, which Globe attributed to increased usage of video streaming, social media, gaming, digital payments, and other online services. Mobile data traffic increased 18%, with average monthly data consumption per subscriber reaching approximately 16 GB.
The company said more than 39 million of its customers actively use mobile data services. Its GlobeOne app has also grown, now averaging 8 million monthly users, according to Globe.
Company outlook
Globe said it plans to continue expanding its network to meet rising customer demand as digital habits evolve.
Our priority is to execute our plans well. We will deliver a better customer experience through our digital platforms and serve products that are relevant through hyperpersonalization. While we continue to expand our 5G network, we intend to deepen our fiber footprint and differentiate more using digital technologies," said Darius Delgado, Globe Chief Commercial Officer.
Globe said it aims to continue expanding mobile connectivity to support individuals, businesses, and communities across the Philippines.
