Powering rescue teams after quake
Jackery Philippines has donated portable power stations and solar panels to local government units in Sarangani province, supporting relief efforts following a recent earthquake off Mindanao.
The donation came in response to a call for assistance from the Philippine Disaster Resilience Foundation (PDRF), the country's primary private-sector coordinator for disaster risk reduction and management. Jackery gave the equipment directly to the LGUs of Malapatan and Glan to support ongoing rescue operations and strengthen future emergency preparedness.
Officials from both LGUs, who led the Incident Command Systems during the magnitude 7.8 earthquake and Typhoon Inday, received the units at the Malapatan Incident Command Post. The power stations and solar panels are meant to serve as a power source for disaster response and recovery, deployable at emergency operations centers, makeshift medical stations, and community charging hubs.
Having power is very important for our rescue team so we can stay connected, especially during emergencies, so we are very thankful to Jackery and PDRF for this big donation. This will really help our team serve the people of Malapatan, Sarangani better," said Mark Christopher Quiño, Incident Commander of the LGU of Malapatan, Sarangani.
Earthquakes typically damage local infrastructure, with power lines often among the first systems to fail, complicating tasks like coordinating rescue teams and maintaining communication. Jackery's plug-and-play power solutions give responders an alternative to traditional gas generators, without the fuel dependency and logistical challenges those generators usually involve.
Igue Bonifacio, Marketing and Emerging Businesses Head of Cognetics Inc., said the donation reflects Jackery's promise to champion a "Life Uninterrupted" for Filipinos, adding that the company acted without hesitation when PDRF reached out about the situation in Sarangani, wanting to ensure the community had dependable power while rescue and recovery efforts were underway.
The collaboration between Jackery and PDRF reflects an approach to disaster management in the Philippines that integrates sustainable solutions into humanitarian aid, aiming to reduce communities' vulnerability to prolonged power outages and support a more self-reliant recovery process going forward.
