In particular, Smart signed a memorandum of agreement with the local government to build additional network infrastructure in strategic areas. They will also deploy a portable mobile cellular site in the central business district to immediately increase capacity and improve service quality.

The upgrades deliver stronger coverage and reliability, with Smart promising better support for residents, businesses, and students.

Debbie M. Hu, Smart FVP for Network Build and Implementation, said that the additional sites will help improve coverage in La Trinidad and provide residents with more reliable service.

Local leaders echoed the benefits, noting that improved connectivity will enhance digital payments, communication, and government services, while students gain steadier access to online learning resources.

La Trinidad's role as the country's "salad bowl" makes connectivity vital.

The municipality serves as a trading hub for Benguet’s highland crops—cabbage, potatoes, and other temperate vegetables—that reach markets nationwide, from Batanes to Mindanao.

The area is also home to Benguet State University, a CHED‑recognized Center of Excellence in Teacher Education and Centers of Development in Agriculture and Nutrition. This further underscores the need for reliable digital infrastructure.
